LearningMate releases the next generation of FROST

This morning LearningMate Solutions Inc. announced a newly expanded version of LearningMate FROST, its next generation authoring tool for digital and interactive learning content.

Equipped with dashboard enhancements and a newly designed content tagging workflow, FROST’s latest rendition promotes strengthened workflow reporting and increased content discovery and reusability, both critical to adding speed and efficiency to the fast-paced digital-first development model.

“FROST was founded in detailed research and analysis of workflows at leading digital curriculum providers.” says LearningMate CEO Samudra Sen. ”As we’ve expanded the platform, that approach has remained core to our development philosophy. We’ve worked closely with our partners to understand the requirements of designing and supporting next generation content architectures and collaborated to develop and fine-tune the features that better enable their success.”

This release builds on the platform’s earlier version, which was extensively piloted and tested in live enterprise environments at leading education publishers.

FROST was engineered to serve as the central hub for digital-first content development. It’s tightly integrated creation, collaboration and storage features and vendor-neutral integration approach allows its customers to retool their development processes to be both flexible and current.

“While most authoring tools on the market today can be customized to an extent, they often place restrictions on vendor choice. Flexibility around systems integration, long-term development, and ownership of intellectual property are important to our customers and to us. At LearningMate, we’ve adopted the philosophy “Our IP is your IP.” Sen explains.

FROST is fully customizable and extensible to connect with proprietary or 3rd party tools and systems. FROST natively supports the development of EPUB® 3 (The International Digital Publishing Forum’s (IDPF) EPUB for Education profile, previously known as EPUB 3 EDUPUB profile) content and provides the ability to develop course sequences and publish them as 1EdTech™ Consortium Common Cartridge® packages. This latest release also incorporates integration with LearningMate QuAD—a full-featured assessment authoring platform.

“We recognize the content development process as the backbone of any publishing business and we want to make it as easy as possible to continuously evolve and improve it.” Says Ganesh Kumar, Chief Technology Officer. “We work with our partners to design a unique FROST instance according to their content and workflow needs, then provide consulting and engineering services to enable integration via APIs and align the product roadmap to their digital strategy.”

LearningMate offers a full suite of consulting and engineering services around workflow, content development and management, systems integration and data analytics to guide content development decisions.

FROST is the third authoring innovation introduced by LearningMate. QuAD, the company’s Question Authoring and Delivery tool for assessments and interactive widgets, serves as the central assessment workflow for many of today’s publishers and ICE, its Instructional Content Editor, was a first-to-market solution early in the digital revolution.
