LearningMate, the world’s leading e-learning & educational technology solutions provider, announced significant upgrades to GoClass, its cloud-based teaching and learning platform for classroom mobile devices, this morning at the International Society for Technology in Education Conference in San Antonio, Texas.

GoClass was launched in January of 2012 with a vision to build a participatory mobile classroom using commonly available consumer devices that allow teachers to engage and interact with students, facilitate new and creative interactions with learning content, and monitor student progress; the platform has since been extensively piloted in both K-12 and higher education classrooms.

Speaking at ISTE, Mohit Bhargava, President, LearningMate Solutions, stated, “Over the past 18 months, we’ve been fortunate to work with and receive feedback from more than 50,000 users in over 70 countries. This has deeply influenced the direction we’re taking the platform.” Mr. Bhargava went on to say, “The features we are showcasing here at ISTE will be available to all our users by mid July.”

The latest generation of GoClass yields the platform’s most active teaching and learning experience to date. New features include digital note taking and media annotation tools for students and advanced homework management features that support discovery learning and flipped classroom teaching models. The course organization model has also been redesigned to better reflect how teachers use digital content in the classroom.

“We believe the modern classroom is about participation and community involvement. Learning has to extend beyond the four walls of the classroom. GoClass’s new features are designed to increase participation and build stronger collaboration among teachers and students while bringing parents and administrators into the mix.” Said Mr. Bhargava.

The latest release continues to stay true to the platform’s early promise to enable learning in BYOD environments and adds Google’s Nexus 7, several Android form factors and PCs to its growing list of supported student and teacher devices. GoClass is making large deployments on school networks easier by moving to a cloud projection model and reducing dependency on proprietary protocols to manage sharing of content in the classroom. Teachers can now project to any Internet connected device equipped with a standards-based web browser.

Attendees at ISTE 2013 can preview the next generation of GoClass in the GoClass Booth #2266.
