New Mexico Establishes Statewide Longitudinal Data System to Improve Student Outcomes

May 6, 2025

On a mission to expand the accessibility and usability of statewide educational and workforce cross-agency data, the state of New Mexico set out to integrate data from four state agencies, including the Early Childhood Education and Care Department (ECECD), Public Education Department (PED), Higher Education Department (HED), and the Department of Workforce Solutions (DWS).

However, disparate systems created a shared challenge in getting a complete view of student performance as they moved through each educational stage, from early learning through post-secondary and workforce, known as P20W+.

LearningMate began designing and building a robust data solution, allowing participating state agencies to scale data quickly and reliably. Key components of the solution included:

  • Integration with Existing Systems - allowing for scalable and reliable data management.
  • Master Person Index - to track a person’s educational path from early childhood through higher education and into the workforce.
  • Technical Approach - employed Common Education Data Standards (CEDS), Artificial Intelligence, and Machine Learning for Master Identity Management

New Mexico is now at the forefront of a multi-agency data solution aimed at enhancing student outcomes. LearningMate / Double Line's solution allows each agency to track data to assess progress, analyze long-term trends, and connect data to inform decisions and policy-making.
