Privacy Policy for Editorial Assist
Last Updated: 31 March 2026
Editorial Assist ("we," "our," or "us"), developed by LearningMate/Straive, is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy comprehensively details how the Editorial Assist Chrome Extension collects, handles, stores, and shares your user data and should be read in conjunction with LearningMate Privacy Policy.
1. Data Collection
To provide AI-powered quality assurance, Editorial Assist collects the following data:
- Authentication Data: We temporarily collect your username/email and password via the extension interface strictly to transmit to our backend for identity verification. We do not store your plaintext password.
- Website Content: When explicitly triggered by the user clicking "Run QA Review," we extract the visible text and sanitized HTML (specifically to preserve MathML/LaTeX) from the active webpage.
- User Preferences: We collect your selected QA parameters (e.g., Accuracy Checking) and custom instructions.
2. Data Handling and Use
Your data is used exclusively for the single purpose of providing educational quality assurance.
- We handle your authentication data to verify your identity against our backend (Kadal CMS).
- We handle the extracted Website Content by securely transmitting it over encrypted HTTPS connections to our backend APIs (api.kadal.ai) for processing and AI analysis.
- We actively sanitize all Website Content before it leaves the browser, stripping out scripts, forms, and hidden inputs to ensure no extraneous session tokens or unrendered are handled.
3. Data Storage
- Local(Sync) Storage: The extension locally stores secure API access tokens and your recent QA activity logs within your browser (chrome.storage). We do not store plaintext passwords. You may clear this local storage at any time via the extension's settings.
- Remote Storage: Extracted Website Content is processed ephemerally by our servers to generate the QA report and is not stored long-term.
4. Data Sharing and Third Parties
We do not sell, rent, or trade your personal information or Website Content. To fulfill the extension's core functionality, data is shared with the following essential third-party service providers:
- Hosting Providers: Data is transmitted to our secure cloud infrastructure provider, Amazon Web Services (AWS), to host our backend services.
- AI Processors: To generate the QA analysis, the sanitized Website Content is processed by Google Gemini AI models.
Additionally, data is also transmitted to the internal system Kadal AI (api.kadal.ai) to route and manage the QA analysis pipeline.
5. Chrome Web Store Limited Use Disclosure
The use of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements and LearningMate Privacy Policy.
