  • LearningMate is seeking an experienced High School Science Learning Design Strategist with a course design and publishing background.

    The ideal candidate is a master-level educator and curriculum designer who has impacted the design and development of courseware, micro-courses, media, and assessments. You are looking for an opportunity to lead the backend design for learning taxonomy and content management. In addition, you want to work closely with other freelance designers to create the perfect course for our client’s students.

    Essential Functions
    Content & Curriculum
    Lead the day-to-day execution of curriculum-related tasks related to high school science.
    Ensure timely and successful delivery of digital learning content according to customer needs, objectives, and quality standards.
    Create curriculum design strategies, scope and sequence documents, media/multimedia plans, and lab strategies.
    Coach curriculum and instructional designers to build straightforward, engaging, and interactive digital learning content and components.
    Build templates for curriculum and instructional designers to create offline and online learning content.
    Build and provide thought leadership on a high school science framework.
    Author and edit content such as lessons, assessments, and media to ensure content quality to the subject area, grade level, audience, Universal Design for Learning, equity and inclusion, and accessibility compliance (e.g., WCAG, CAST/UDL).
    Support estimation efforts and project costs (assist with budgeting/writing proposals).

    Communication
    Support internal stakeholders with training materials for user testing, pilots, and implementation.
    Interface with product owners, subject matter experts, instructional designers, content editors, copy editors, accessibility experts, and project managers, both in-house and freelance.
    Support internal and freelance teams to bring projects to completion within specified deadlines and budgets.
    Demonstrate the ability to establish and meet critical milestones, work and communicate effectively with people at all levels within the organization, and contribute to developing targeted process solutions.
    Problem-solve daily process issues; highlight red flags and help solutions (e.g., scheduling concerns, content concerns).
    Use consultative client interaction to provide ongoing service and support while managing client expectations and implementing action plans where needed.
    Work with the project manager to resolve customer issues and develop best practices to mitigate future problems.

    Qualifications
    Bachelor’s Degree in science or related field, Master’s Degree in science preferred.
    High School teaching. Public, public charter, or virtual school experience preferred.
    5 + years of related experience working with academic content in an educational or publishing environment.
    Experience in developing and managing supplemental, print, and digital products.
    Digital content publishing is preferred.
    Experience leading teams virtually and working with onshore/offshore teams is a plus.
    Solid copyediting and proofreading experience.
    Natural relationship builder with integrity, reliability, and maturity.
    Ability to manage external vendors and freelancers effectively.
    Highly motivated with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
    Self-starter with strong organizational and time management skills, self-directed, and able to handle multiple priorities with demanding time frames.
    Demonstrated ability to use discretion, make sound decisions, and maintain confidentiality.
    Strong capacity to identify and solution issues in flexible and creative ways.
    Collaborative and motivational when working with internal and external teams; customer service-oriented skills when working with clients.
    Proficiency in MS Office, Google Applications, modern business tools, communication tools, mobile tools, and presentation tools for virtual teams. Proficiency with design tools is a plus.

    Working Conditions
    Willingness and ability to work flexible hours with minimal supervision. Travel required (up to 25% annually); may include some overnight travel.
    LearningMate has offices in India and USA as well as global customers. Coordination with the teams, primarily in India, would require early morning calls/meetings.
    Regularly sit, reach, and use hands to operate computers and other office equipment; occasionally, stand and walk.
    Occasionally lifts or exerts force up to 10 lbs.
