Content Editor, K-12 (Contract – U.S.)
Reports to: Program Manager or Director

Location: Work from Home (U.S.)
Primary Purpose:
In this role, you will collaboratively work to craft instruction designed to deepen learner understanding and engagement in grades K-12 online courses for a public, virtual school. You will bring a critical eye to all assignments by fact-checking, examining for bias, and ensuring assignments are inclusive and respectful of diverse perspectives. You will work with a team that seeks to support all learners by writing engaging content that supports all learners.
Responsibilities:
- Write and review instructional content including multimedia, print material, and assessments for online courses in grades 6-12 that support an inclusive, critical understanding
- Review content for missing information, misinformation, and bias
- Align assessments and learning objectives to state standards
- Improve existing lessons and assessments
- Align curriculum to editorial and instructional norms
Qualifications:
- Experience crafting high-quality instruction for grades 6-12
- Experience teaching and cultivating a welcoming and inclusive learning environment for elementary or secondary learners
- Familiarity with different taxonomies and standards alignment
- Experience in content editing of quality curriculums
- Experience preferred in writing in an LMS
- Ability to multitask effectively and work in a fast-paced, deadline-driven environment
SOW – Scope:
- Attend kickoff and training meetings for the project
- Perform edits to course/lessons in alignment with writing and style guidelines as specified by the client
- Perform edits in the client’s platform and in documents (e.g., Google documents, Google Sheets) and update the project management tool (e.g., Smartsheet) for schedule adherence
- Adhere to editing schedule as specified by project team
- Apply subject-matter expertise to further support the learner population and increase the effectiveness of the lesson
- Ensure that the following key design elements are present:
- Alignment to objectives
- Appropriate content flow for the audience
- Appropriate instructional strategies for the audience
- Appropriate and varied use of multimedia to support instruction
- Appropriate and varied use of the learning platform’s components to support instruction
- Verify all content and assessment components are factual, up-to-date, and accurate
- Verify all auto-scored answers are set correctly in the platform’s question components
- Identify language, grammar, and syntax related issues
- Save a PDF copy of the edited lesson to your computer if needed for reference
- Consult with the project team on issues that occur during course development
